SIP provider partners by country

A gateway is only half of a SIP trunk. beroNet devices work with the providers below, and with any other standards compliant SIP trunk. Notes on individual providers are in the beroNet Wiki.

Setting up the trunk

SIP is SIP — every standards compliant trunk is set up the same way, whether or not the provider is on this list. The account data is specific to each connection and comes from the provider, so ask for:

  • user name or main number, and password
  • registrar, proxy and domain
  • transport protocol, UDP or TCP
  • whether the device should register with the provider
  • which SIP header carries the caller ID
  • whether faxes are sent as G.711 or T.38

The general provider guide walks through the configuration with these values, and a German version exists as well. Depending on the network, the router in front of the gateway may need port forwarding for SIP and RTP. A standard configuration is not expected to cause problems; as with any SIP gateway, check codec and registration once during commissioning. If a trunk still will not come up, open a ticket in the Service Desk with a full trace, or book on-demand support for help on the phone with remote access.

For France there are step-by-step guides in French for Keyyo, OpenIP and VOIP Telecom.

Frequently asked questions

Do beroNet gateways work with Deutsche Telekom Company Flex?

Yes, the BRI gateways work with Company Flex. The beroNet Wiki has a configuration guide for it among the supported SIP providers for Germany. Install the current firmware before setting it up.

In which SIP header does the provider expect the caller ID?

That differs by provider: the From display name, the From user part, P-Asserted-Identity or P-Preferred-Identity. The gateway can place the caller ID in any of them, so ask the provider which one it reads; many providers also let you set this in their customer portal.

The provider and the PBX use different number formats. Is that a problem?

No. For each SIP account the gateway knows the country code, the area code and the international prefix, and sends numbers in the format the provider expects. Where provider and PBX disagree about the numbering format, the gateway rewrites the SIP headers accordingly.
